Bio

I come from a small family and grew up in a sleepy community in Kingston, Jamaica. Books were an important part of our household and as a result, I became an avid reader.

Falling in love with stories from a tender age caused me to start writing my own. Even back then, I knew that I wanted to become an author. However, many years would pass before I would begin that journey.

Soon, I became a JCDC Creative Writing Awardee. From there, my stories were published in a Jamaican anthology. Now I’m writing a speculative fiction novel. Its themes include family and facing the consequences of one’s actions. It also has elements of magical realism drawn from Jamaican folklore.

Me, in a Nutshell

So that’s how I got into writing fiction. But there’s more to me than just writing and being a bookworm.

I’ve been fascinated with the preternatural world since my childhood, and Octavia Butler and Nnedi Okorafor are my “sheroes”. I love reggae, jazz, and alt-rock, being close to water and the mountains, and watching tennis. And I’m a dog mom to Taz and Ash, the two bright spots in my life.

About My Blog

I believe that before you and I can sit down to write, paint, draw, sing, cook, sew, etc., we first need to live. Of course, I don’t have all the answers but what I do have is a love to create and to inspire others. I enjoy seeing people doing the things they love. That’s why I’m using my experiences, observations, storytelling, and all that I’m learning to provide content that will help you to find inspiration for your art so that you can create and thrive with joy.

Because the world needs the gift that is in you.

Stay inspired, my friends.
